I, I'm under you I'm under your spell I remember well you got me On, onto the street Took me off of my feet You know you really got me Keep me, keep me right here in your heat Keep me, keep me right here in your heat Keep me, keep me right here in your heat Keep me, keep me You, you're a wildfire Love the rips in your jeans You got everything just right Even though I'm soaked in the rain I still feel your flames You set my world on fire Keep me, keep me right here in your heat Keep me, keep me right here in your heat Keep me, keep me right here in your heat Keep me, keep me Judo kicking, fire dancing I love your sweet trash talking ways The way that you know how to light up the night Judo kicking, fire dancing Your hair falling down into my face I'm looking up at your pretty ways
2014-Present (Song’s Development)
I often make a forty-five-minute drive from Tampa to south St. Pete to get my son to and from school. Of course, I do my best to make use of that time. Sometimes I will have an audio book; other recently, a soundtrack or an audio Substack post.
One particular day in 2014 I began tapping a rhythm on the center consol of the car and I started humming out what would be the basis for the song “Fire” which I finally completed this past week.
The song as it is today sounds nothing like what I first tapped and hummed in the car that day; in fact, the title for the song is really all that really stuck. It goes to show how songs can develop and grow all the way up to the present moment; even as they are recorded, certain elements can come to life.
Recording Tools:
For this recording, I used my home studio. (Maschine MK3, Maschine software). The microphones I used are a Shure SM81 condenser mic for the acoustic guitar, a Shure SM7B for my vocal mic. I run my microphones through a Warm Audio 412a pre-amp, then through my Mackie Onyx 8 audio interface. I used all stock plugins of Maschine (compressor, eq, limiter) to create the recording and process the audio.
After the recording, I created the video using stock video that comes with my subscription to Adobe Express.
Next Steps:
This song now goes into my collection of completed demos where I am building up my “portfolio” of songs. My goal is to one day record this song in Nashville with a band in a large format studio. I am also open to other artists picking up this song and recording it if there is interest.
The song now begins the next part of its journey; hopefully one day it will make it out there for people to hear.
Till next time; hope everyone is doing great in 2024.
Much… Love!!!
